First trip to Italy: a booking checklist before you pay

Check the complete timeline

Put flights, accommodation and intercity journeys on one timeline. Verify arrival works with check-in and your final night matches departure. A cheap booking can become expensive when connections do not fit. Compare usable time rather than the number of destinations in a headline. Leave space for collecting luggage and reaching the next departure.

Read what is included

Check luggage, mandatory charges, admission inclusions and cancellation terms for every purchase. Save conditions beside confirmations. Similar names do not guarantee the same services. For attractions, start with official visitor information so you know what you are comparing. Check names and dates carefully before the final payment step.

Limit transfers on a short trip

Changing bases uses time for packing, checkout, travel and finding the next address. Compare one base plus a day trip with several accommodation changes. Choose the version that fits interests and energy. Another city does not belong on the route simply because a line on a map makes it look close.

Make a shared trip sheet

Record dates, addresses, reference numbers and remaining decisions somewhere companions can access, including offline. Add a reserve and a late-arrival fallback. Use the workbook for Rome, then apply the same method elsewhere: one main anchor, nearby options and a return journey. Update the sheet when bookings change so everyone has the current version.
