Frequently asked questions
Is 3 days in Capri enough?
Yes — 3 days lets you see the Blue Grotto (weather-permitting), hike Monte Solaro, do a boat circuit of the island, and still eat two proper dinners without rushing. Under 2 days is a mistake.
Best time to visit Capri?
Late May–early June and September. July–August is unbearably crowded and hotel prices double; October is quieter but many restaurants close mid-month.
How to get to Capri?
Ferry or hydrofoil from Naples (45–80 min) or Sorrento (25 min). No cars for non-residents — you'll walk, take small buses, or funicular from Marina Grande up to Capri town.
Is the Blue Grotto worth it?
Yes if you arrive by 9am on a calm morning — the small rowboat entry is only possible in flat sea. Skip it if there's swell; a Faraglioni boat tour is a better use of the day.
Where to stay: Capri or Anacapri?
Capri town for restaurants, nightlife, ferry access. Anacapri for quiet, better value, and closer to Monte Solaro. Split 2 nights + 1 night if budget allows.
Do I need to book restaurants ahead?
In peak season, yes — Da Paolino (lemon-tree dinner) sells out weeks ahead. Off-season most places take walk-ins.
